Arthur Guichoux, a post-doctoral fellow from the PragmApolis laboratory in ULiège's Faculty of Social Sciences, and his co-author Alejandro Fortuny-Sicart from the University of Vigo (Post-degrowth Innovation Lab) won the prize for best paper (Phd researchers) at the CIRIEC conference.

This conference was held in Bordeaux prior to the World Forum on the Social and Solidarity Economy.

Ciriec is the Centre International de Recherches et d'Information sur l'Economie Publique, Sociale et Coopérative. To find out more: www.ciriec.uliege.be

The title of the paper was: "Taking the tools the capitalists created and putting them in the hands of the workers": intercooperation and reappropriation of knowledge in the Coopcycle federation.

It is part of Arthur Guichoux's Marie Curie Utopcycle project.

Utopcycle explores platform cooperativism in the bike delivery sector, focusing on the socio-political dynamics of “counter-uberization” within cooperatives. He employs ethnographic methods to study platforms like Mensakas, Les Coursiers Rennais, and Rayon9, analyzing their impact on the reintegration of the bike delivery market during a ‘cycle logistical revolution’. Arthur’s professional journey also includes roles as a bike courier, press intern, and coach, enhancing his understanding of the intersections of labor, technology, and social movements.
